DAME MI TWEED

............................
I love wooden clothes much more that I love Chanel and that's why everytime I see a tweed jacquet I feel that I want it in my wardrobe. Fortunately this season tweed jacquets are easy to find in all kind of colours and styles. I have not decided yet which one I will get but probably choose one in a bright colour and a more discreet one that I can wear very often. I don't care if hot days are coming because anyway I use to go out with a jacquet to protect me against air conditioning. Besides it's a bit cold at night when you're next to the sea.
I don't only pay attention to this season's looks as we've been seeing tweeds jacquets combinations and though that's the reason why it is not an original outfit what really matters is that it works and also suggets a challenge: making it different and personal as a CAT always does.

........................

It happens every year when Springtime comes and during Summer: I want flowers. I want them in my balcony, in dishes, curtains, sheets, on the cover of my notebooks and, of course, in my clothes. I like using  flower print fabrics to change the atmosphere of a room as it is a low-cost way to improve your own mood. And I'd love to wallpaper a room but I don´t dare.

It doesn't matter that we didn't see lots of flowers on the catwalk cos a real C.A.T. will follow her feline instint rather than any fashion editorial. I want big flowers this year and I'm even willing to mix prints. I like the Hawaiian version, alone or brightening up a skirt. I dont't suffer any allergy so lucky me.

Finally, here's a cat-advice inspired in feng shui: put some brilliant colour flowers in the East of your house in any season. That will bring new and good things into your life and anyway it costs almost nothing.

.....................................................................................
I've ran into a pic by chance and that's how I've seen something obvious: Sophie Calle it's a C.A.T. She is my faveorite living artist and I didn't remember that image on the cover of the book 'Double Game', where she appears with a cat around her neck, just how my own cat uses to do on my own neck. But the picture I found is that one where she's wearing a skirt with cats printed on it. I don't know if she has any affection for cats but I saw the clue.

Sophie Calle is a real C.A.T. because she couldn't care less conventionalism, because she makes of her life a work of art, and because she's always surprising and transgressor. And she gets it being natural. She looks like a vain middle-age woman who has good taste in clothes and is a slave only to her own rules. After all the clothes we choose show our personality. By chance, we have a similar haircut.

For her first work, 'The Sleepers'(1978), she invited 28 unknown people to sleep in her bed while she would take pics and prepare a breakfast for them. As she didn't know what to do next she chose a stranger in a party and decided to follow him to Venice and documented the whole process. After that she hired a private detective who would follow her, and documented that as well for her next work.

Among her works, one of my favourite is 'Birthday Ceremony'. What she does is showing into a glass cabinet the presents she would receive during her birthday party. I think lately she's planning her own funeral though she doesn't look like she wants to die soon.

It's not a coincidence that I show one of her books in my bookcase. The reason is not that its cover is orange, one of the trending colours of this spring, and neither is that I want to it off. It's just my way of inviting my guests to discover the fascinating work of this woman. If you are interested now, just click here.

.............................................
What I thought was a joke on the catwalk is now the trendiest outfit for the spring season. You can now wear pijamas to go out thanks to Stella McCartney, and everybody celebrates its originality, though  Dolce and Gabanna or Louis Vuitton tried to get it before and you can find similar clothes in other designer's latest collection.
In Málaga, wearing pijamas in the street has been usual in the street style for years and years, with a different style maybe (colours, prints or accessories change), but it is the same concept. Because there's nothing more inspiring for a coolhunter than what they see in the street, and here you can find a lot of neighborhoods that may inspire you.
So where other people can see a reflect of Hugh Hefner's own style or an ode to luxury comfort I see a tribute to our popular tradition.
Also I have to say that I NEVER go out in my pijama... Though, if I think twice, I realize  that we all ever had a Women'secret dress that we could wear for sleeping, or camping or having a drink in the beach. Nothing new under the Sun.

···················································································
It's not easy to scape from tradition when there's a lack of money and time, so when Holy Week starts in Málaga you are well awared of that. Even if I decide to shut myself at home, I will see a procession from the balcony. That is how I realized that an authentic Spanish scene is more modern than ever: the mantilla is trendy as lace is this season. And we can go further. What makes the outfit complete is a timeless 'little black dress' that you can see in all variations as they are usually made to measure and also dresses in lace are very typical. The effect must be elegant and sober as they are wearing mourning, though there is sometimes an exception which always sets people talking.
But what I really love is the essential accessory of a mantilla: the ornamental comb make of tortoiseshell. I have two little ones in white that I have never worn. Maybe I can use them to keep up the tradition my way.

SICK OF MINT

..................................................................................
What I find fascinating about so called trends is how they can change our feelings and opinions about things. Could I imagine four years ago that shoulder pads would happily be back in my wardrobe? I have that sense with mint colour this Spring. It reminds me of some chairs that we had in my granmother's house, painted in that new 'it' colour, that I found too old-fashioned. Call it vintage and you will find it irresistible.
Suddenly I find attractive mint colour, though as soon as I saw it in a total look in the street I knew that I wouldn't be interested in wearing it as I tend to get bored of what is seen and done before. Anyway, I still think about the colour and while I'm having a sip of pippermint and one or two After Eights guess I've found a solution...
